Review on The Malt House
The Malt House occupies a corner site a short walk from Fulham Broadway, the second pub opening from Michelin starred Claude Bosi and brother Cedric, following the success of The Fox and Grapes on Wimbledon Common. Dating back to 1729, this Brakspear pub has undergone a stylish refurbishment and now sports an updated look with clean lines of white and pale green, whilst maintaining many of the original features.
Seasonal menus may kick off with warm mussel and ginger broth and winter vegetables or rabbit liver parfait, caper and raisin puree served with crispy malt loaf. Main courses pick up on pan fried bream, Moroccan spiced couscous, yoghurt and coriander or from the charcoal oven bavette of Cumbrian beef toasted in hay. To finish, expect anything from blood orange and thyme polenta cake to Yorkshire rhubarb and cardamom trifle.
There is a first-class wine list created with the help of Master of Wine Mark Pardoe, who won the Madame Bollinger Prize for being the best taster of his year. The Malt House also offers six stylish bedrooms should you wish to stay over.
