Review on Rivington Grill
Following the success of their first restaurant in Shoreditch, the owners of Rivington recently opened a younger sister, The Rivington Grill attached to the Picturehouse Cinema in Greenwich. This outlet occupies the shell of a spit-and-sawdust boozer, but has been facelifted with all the Rivington trademarks, from simple uncluttered design on two floors to a menu celebrating wholesome, honest food in the ‘Best of British’ tradition.
Salt beef and green bean salad or haslet with fried duck egg and garlic shoots could be followed by roast suckling pig with quince sauce and sprout tops, fish pie or a Barnsley chop with bubble ‘n’ squeak. The feel-good factor goes up a notch or two when you see the nursery delights on the pudding menu: chocolate bread pudding with chocolate ice cream, Bakewell tart, baked rice pudding with stewed prunes and apricots!
There’s a ‘Market Breakfast’ menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as a special Sunday lunch menu (roast rib of beef with all the trimmings, of course!).
