Review on Edera
Over the years Edera (the name means 'ivy') has established itself as a classy, tranquil retreat for the denizens of Holland Park. A few pavement tables catch the eye, while the split-level interior is all clean lines and chic minimalism with terracotta pillars and blond-wood floors adding some contrast.
The kitchen looks to the Italian regions for much of its inspiration and Sardinia looms large. Carpaccio of bottarga (salted mullet roe) is a speciality; also check out 'malloreddusu' pasta with sausage, saffron and Pecorino or homemade Sardinian couscous with prawns, langoustines and cherry tomatoes. Other possibilities might include broad bean risotto, monkfish with celery and green olive mash, and calf's liver with butter, sage and fried courgettes. Desserts might bring on mixed berry pannacotta or crostantina di fragole (strawberry tart) with chocolate sauce, and the wine list is a connoisseur's tour of Italy's regional vineyards.
