Review on Jai Ho
The name Jai Ho is an Indian and Hindu felicitation meaning “Victory to you” and it is also a song from the hit film “Slum Dog Millionaire”. Situated on the Balcombe Road at the site of the old Coppingham Arms, the site has been beautifully renovated and refurbished throughout, revealing a light, contemporary and spacious interior. Jai Ho Restaurant has a separate bar attached for pre and after dinner drinks or in the Summer, take drinks on the terrace.
The kitchen delivers an unusual range of traditionally cooked Indian specialities. The Dhum Pukht Biryani is a one dish meal dating back to 1784 from Northern India. A royal delight among the Nawabs, it’s cooked to perfection in a slow simmering pot with hot coals placed on top and sealed with dough to retain the food’s natural aromas and flavours. Look out for another speciality, Thali which is a pre-plated platter that carries a selection of well balanced curries and accompaniments served in small bowls. Vegetarians can expect a large and extensive range of dishes.
