Review on Gordon Ramsay Plane Food
Gordon Ramsay has landed at Heathrow, and now runs this flagship restaurant among the plethora of chains and fast-food joints that do the feeding at Terminal 5. The slick interior has been designed along aerodynamic lines with lots of shapes associated with flying and echoes of the 60s in the furnishings.
Stuart Gillies Chef Director of The Savoy Grill oversees the menu and head chef Andrew Winstanley delivers the goods. What they offer is an all-embracing menu that runs from early-morning breakfasts and brunch to afternoon teas and late suppers, with the aim of satisfying those with hours to wait for connecting flights, as well as travellers with just a few minutes to spare before boarding.
The menu is a familiar trip through salads, pasta and sourdough sandwiches bolstered by restaurant-style additions including organic salmon ceviche with pink grapefruit, chilli and coriander, Casterbridge rib-eye steak with red wine and shallot butter and desserts ranging from banana parfait with chocolate ice cream and honeycomb to classic Knickerbocker Glory. Plenty of wines are handily available by the glass or pichet.
