Review on Old Bridge Hotel
The Old Bridge hotel, remains the flagship of the Huntsbridge Group, close to the bridge over the River Ouse at Huntingdon, this old converted three-storey bank now plays the part of a 'Hotel, Restaurant, Bar and Business Centre'.
Flexibility and affordable quality are the hallmarks, and the Old Bridge offers all kinds of options. You can eat in the Terrace restaurant surrounded by pastel colours and trompe l'oeil paintings or (on Fridays and Saturdays) in the luxurious, club-like Dining Room.
There's no obligation to order the full three courses, and the menu is deliberately tailored to accommodate just about every preference. Here you will find watermelon and Feta salad with pine nuts, grilled halibut with squid ragoût, runner bean and bacon salad, and Denham Estate pork sausages with slow-braised pork cheek and mash, ahead of Earl Grey pannacotta with spiced custard or nougat parfait with honey madeleines. In addition there are bargain lunches and a raft of 'simple light dishes' along the lines of chicken Caesar salad, haddock and chips or San Daniele ham with rocket and peaches.
The superlative, award-winning wine list is owner John Hoskins' most stunning contribution to things here: 'the aim is for every bottle to be brilliant of its sort, sensibly priced and served without fuss'. We agree!
