Review on Salthouse Harbour Hotel
An impressive waterside location overlooking fashionable Neptune Marina is the setting for the aptly named Salthouse Harbour Hotel. Originally a Victorian warehouse, the building has been transformed into a seven-storey modern destination with all manner of facilities - including a licence to hold civil weddings.
The swanky ground-floor brasserie combines contemporary clean-cut looks with leather banquettes, modern art and harbour views. It feels cool, relaxed and comfortable. The menu offers a wide choice of typical brasserie-style dishes, with seasonal and locally sourced produce to the fore. Asparagus with hot-smoked salmon and poached egg is a popular starter, or you might begin with butternut squash and sage risotto.
Main courses move into the realms of grilled salmon fillet with capers and crayfish in lemon butter or a trio of Dingley Dell pork (fillet, belly and sausage) with bubble 'n squeak and Aspall cider sauce. Round off with chocolate fondant, banana fritters with cardamom ice cream or a bowl of strawberries in season. Bargain lunches are great value, and the well-spread wine list has a plentiful choice by the glass - thanks to a Verre de Vin preservation system.
