Review on Green Island Restaurant
The sandy beaches of Green Island (nicknamed ‘moonscape beach’) are some of the most popular in Jersey, and the whole area gets packed out with tourists during the summer. The converted beach café-cum-restaurant is a livewire act with a big feelgood factor, brightly painted walls, pine tables and a superb terrace. Eat al fresco and gaze out over the crashing surf to Green Island itself (a prehistoric site, some 300 yards from the shore).
Local lobsters, farmed oysters, langoustines, scallops and sand eels all find their way into the kitchen and onto the plate. Otherwise, expect a broadly based menu with French and sunny Mediterranean influences: salt cod and crab croquettes, wild mushroom risotto, turbot with grain mustard dauphinoise and lamb with polenta, roast vine tomatoes and basil fondue, for example. Citrus tart with raspberry sorbet is a typical dessert.
