Review on Herbert's
Herbert's formerly know as Lujon is an award winning restaurant situated overlooking Keston Common in the London Borough of Bromley. Founded by Angela Herbert Bell who launched the successful Buttermilk Barn Cookery School in Orpington, the restaurant is spread over two floors and has undergone a stylish refurbishment offering a relaxed dining experience in an inviting atmosphere.
The menu is dedicated to the seasonality of ingredients serving modern European dishes with a Mediterranean flair, together with the occasional Asian influence. To kick start proceedings there's crab cakes, crab biscuit, coriander, mixed cress, sweetcorn puree or chicken liver parfait, citrus infused, served ice cold with pigs and toast. Main courses usher in bream, apple poached beetroot, lemon and fennel salad, beetroot and saffron gnocchi or for the carnivores amongst you choose pork belly, poached cheek, Savoy, carrots, pea shoots and apple jus. Bringing up the rear are artfully displayed desserts such as milk chocolate and peanut butter marquise and raspberry or pistachio, citrus and olive oil cake and white chocolate. The food is matched by a thoughtfully chosen wine list along with a well crafted cocktail menu.
The restaurant is open all day from 9.00am, when you can pop in for a coffee and all sorts of tempting goodies, whilst relaxing on comfy sofas and reading the papers. Angela also runs a popular Cookery School and you can check out the dates on their website.
