Review on Tate Modern Restaurant
Whether you have been admiring the contemporary artwork in the gallery, had a hard morning in the office or fancy chilling out during the afternoon, the restaurant high up on Level 7 of the Tate Modern suits just about every need. Breakfast, late lunches, afternoon teas and suppers are all on offer, and the children's menu is a great hit with families.
The sleek, glass-walled dining room boasts one of the finest views in the capital and is currently graced by a new commission entitled 'Cold Mouth Prayer' from artist James Aldridge - which is sure to catch your eye.
Menus are seasonal and are based on top-notch ingredients (organic where possible). The choice ranges from heartwarming favourites like battered Cornish haddock and chips or Suffolk chicken breast with parsley sauce to more contemporary ideas including diver-caught scallops with caramelised endive and truffle butter or roast Gressingham duck breast with balsamic figs and potato pancake, followed by desserts such as pomegranate granita or white chocolate and coffee torte.
The star-studded wine list is from Hamish Anderson, who has won 'Best Wine List' at the Carlton London Restaurant Awards for the restaurant at Tate Britain. Note that bookings are only taken for weekday lunches and Friday & Saturday dinners.
