Review on Cerutti 2
The younger sister of Cerutti's in Hull opened in 1989 and occupies the old waiting rooms at Beverley railway station, just five minutes' walk from the centre of town. The place is run by second-generation Tina Cerutti, who oversees the kitchen and ensures that a bustling, animated atmosphere prevails out front.
Seafood is the prevailing theme and the menu promises a mix of classic dishes jazzed up with more modern ideas: typically, you might find 'posh' fish and chips, seafood risotto and char-grilled salmon with asparagus and hollandaise sharing the bill with Chinese-style scallops or monkfish stuffed with Mozzarella and Parma ham. Away from fish, there's also plenty of choice, from roast rack of lamb on minted mash to curried chicken with mango. Desserts are old favourites such as treacle sponge and custard, and the global wine list has a decent selection of fish-friendly whites.
Cerutti 2 has also become famous for its bestselling cookery courses and its recently introduced 'food and wine master classes'. It also offers a home delivery service. Next door to the restaurant is the 'C' Horse Deli, which sells all kinds of provisions, hampers and ready-made meals.
