Review on Meikleour Hotel
The Meikleour Hotel restaurant is a characterful and intimate dining area with seven tables accommodating up to 25 guests enhanced by a lovely log fire in the winter. The food is all prepared in house, with their own special stock pot prepared every Monday. The fish is delivered daily direct from the boats in Aberdeen while the meat is purchased at the local award winning butchers. Fresh fruit and vegetables are delivered every morning and all food is sourced locally when ever possible. In the summer months delicious strawberries and raspberries from the berry fields of Carse of Gowrie are offered.
The menu includes old and new dishes ranging from the hotel's highly acclaimed signature dish of fresh haddock coated in the Meilkleour hotel's own beer and spring water batter to a daily specials blackboard, plus fresh salmon is always available & quite often local game when in season. The food is best described as 'imaginative bistro fare with the accent on homemade'. The owners enjoy their wine so have used their love of wine to carefully select wines that compliment the dishes and offer an extensive wine list from all over the world, with a selection of fine wines for the connoisseurs.
