Review on Trattoria Verdi
Trattoria Verdi has been serving up traditional Italian food to an appreciative crowd since 1964 and it remains a great favourite with local business people and the throngs of tourists who regularly descend on Bloomsbury's hotel quarter.
Meat and fish from the London markets find their way onto the vast menu, which covers just about every trattoria favourite you could win for. A big contingent of pizzas and pasta dishes lines up alongside grilled sardines, minestrone della casa, saltimbocca alla romana and sirloin steak pizzaiola. Helpings are huge, but it's worth checking out the sweet-toothed dessert trolley if you have room.
Effusive staff, delightfully kitsch background music and colourful paintings of Italian scenes create just the right mood, and everything is reasonably priced.
