Review on Sequoias Restaurant, New House Hotel
Spectacular views are one of the attributes of this 'country hotel' set high on a hill just outside Cardiff: on fine days, there are panoramic vistas across the city skyline and the bay far beyond. Despite its name, the New House is actually Georgian in origin, but it has been tastefully and impressively converted over the years.
Meals are served in the classically appointed Sequoias restaurant; you can also eat al fresco if the weather allows. The kitchen makes good use of seasonal produce for regularly changing 'market' menus that might run along the lines of seared medallions of home-cured venison with wild mushroom ravioli, lemon and parsley-crusted cod on sweet potato chips with sauce vierge, and steamed chocolate pudding with white chocolate sauce.
