Review on The Old Swan
The Old Swan is set in the village of Madeley Heath on the Cheshire border, a few miles from Crewe. After being closed for two years, new owners have completed extensive refurbishments and it now features a lovely contemporary décor.
The kitchen is focused on sourcing high quality local ingredients for its menu of classic pub dishes with a modern twist, freshly prepared daily. To begin you might find garlic and rosemary infused camembert, baked in the oven, served with French bread, followed by a main course of poached salmon, chive, white wine and cheese sauce, vegetables and your choice of potato. While old faithfuls such as bread and butter pudding made with white baguettes, cream, nutmeg and demerara sugar or a sticky toffee pudding served with West Country cream and toffee sauce round things off.
The menu is complemented by a wide range of wine and champagnes together with Joules Pale Ale, London Pride and traditional cider. There is a bar area where you can enjoy a light snack accompanied by locally sourced guest ales.
