Review on Coco

Younger sister to the well-respected Jasmine Palace in Limerick, this restaurant has quickly established a strong reputation in its own right. Like the original, it's a big, bustling venue that has been luxuriously decked out in traditional style. A change of name to Coco signals a broadening of the kitchen's scope, with a sizeable contingent of European and eclectic dishes now added to the menu.

At lunchtime, a lavish help-yourself buffet bar is the main attraction and the restaurant offers attractive 'early bird' deals in the evening. The full menu covers a lot of territory from crispy duck rolls to wok-fried noodles, but it's worth looking out for the peasant-style hotpots, crispy fried chicken with sour plum sauce and grilled sea bass in Shanghai spices with enoki and shiitake mushrooms.

Eclectic influences also show in dishes such as goats' cheese and walnut crostini, Thai red curry, wild cod with a sauce of green peas and sizzling fajitas. Desserts also roam around for the likes of tiramisu, Crunchie cheesecake and jasmine tea chocolate gateau.
