Review on The Richmond Restaurant, Lysses House Hotel
The award winning Richmond Restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the Lysses Hotel in the heart of the old Hampshire market town of Fareham. Built as a private residence during Georgian times, the Lysses Hotel (pronounced 'lissies') is a smart and elegant edifice with a porticoed entrance and clean symmetrical lines. It also benefits from lovely grounds and a peaceful tree-lined garden, making it a prime spot for weddings and other celebrations.
The soothingly decorated Richmond Restaurant offers guests and visitors a chance to unwind and sample carefully crafted food in relaxed surroundings. Hampshire produce is the basis for many of the kitchen's specialities, although there's a strong European edge to things.
Fixed-price lunch and dinner menus promise the likes of smooth duck liver terrine with olive oil toasts and Lysses chutney or fishcakes with sweet chilli dressing ahead of pan-fried sea bass with linguine and lemon sauce or honey-glazed pork fillet with garlic potatoes, chorizo and red wine sauce. Grills are also popular and desserts might run to warm rice pudding with nutty toffee sauce.
