Review on The G Hotel, Restaurant Gigi's
'With its sleek lifestyle spa, high-class Italian restaurant and glamorous, vibrantly-coloured furnishings, it is at the cutting edge of hotel style.' So wrote The Independent on Sunday about the ultra-chic, uber-fashionable 'g hotel' (the owners prefer in-vogue lower-case typography).
Restaurant Gigi's at the g has quickly become one of the most talked-about restaurants in Galway, with its distinctive design features, purple velvet banquettes and jewel-coloured Andrew Martin chairs.
The kitchen works to a hybrid contemporary menu that ticks all the right boxes with its amalgam of modern Italian, fusion and oriental ideas. To begin, there might be dressed crab with avocado and chilled gazpacho dressing or seared foie gras with apple jelly and toasted brioche. Mains range far and wide for the likes of roast cod with broad beans and pancetta or duck breast with pak choi and shiitake mushrooms, while desserts are fashionable creations like white peach parfait with marinated strawberries or chocolate mousse with confit orange and mint pesto.
