Review on Port Charlotte Hotel
Port Charlotte is an attractive conservation village built around 1830, and it now provides a great base for exploring Islay's seven whisky distilleries, its rich bird life and sandy beaches. You can stroll down to the sea from the conservatory and garden of the Port Charlotte Hotel, also built in Victorian times but now a delightfully restored hotel and restaurant.
Bar lunches and suppers keep the tourists nourished, while the restaurant offers a regularly changing menu of more upmarket dishes. Beef and lamb from local farms both feature regularly, alongside scallops, lobsters, prawns and other fresh seafood from the Islay boats.
