Set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens, this modern low-rise hotel has an almost rural outlook - even though it is within easy reach of Limerick city centre. There are views of the magnificent Woodcock Mountains from many rooms and the place also has the bonus of a Renaissance Spa & Leisure complex.
The split-level Porters restaurant is impressively done out with an amalgam of maple wood, steel, luscious voile and luxurious soft furnishings. Buffet lunches give way to more elaborate evening meals with a broad international slant. Typical offerings might include a duo of rabbit (braised and roast) with hazelnut mash and buttered Brussels sprouts, prime Irish steaks and medallions of monkfish wrapped in bacon with grilled vegetables and thyme jus, plus desserts such as warm pistachio and raspberry tart.
