Review on The Peak Restaurant
Chef and co-proprietor Angela Dwyer has a big-city pedigree: she worked in Soho's Groucho Club and 192 on Kensington Church Street before teaming up with Julia Roberts for this new venture. The restaurant is run in tandem with their bakery next door, and it has recently been expanded to take in the adjoining property.
Angela's cooking is based emphatically around Welsh produce, although she brings on board lots of influences and different flavours from elsewhere. To start, she might offer a mixed tapas plate or Welsh goats' cheese with wild leaves and hazelnut dressing, while main courses might extend to lamb shank with rosemary and red wine jus or fillet of Welsh beef with mushrooms and herb butter. Bringing up the rear are classic desserts such as chocolate pot or baked cheesecake with raspberry compote. Good-value wines by the glass.
