Review on Dryfesdale Country House Hotel
An avenue of beech trees leads up to this converted eighteenth-century manse, which is surrounded by magnificent grounds and elevated parkland overlooking beautiful Annandale.
Full meals are served in the stylish Kirkhill Restaurant, which has a polished grand piano in one corner and a terrace with breathtaking views. Local ingredients including Galloway beef and Lockerbie cheeses are used for a range of modern European dishes along the lines of ham hock and foie gras terrine, confit of duck with orange syrup and roast Solway salmon with lemon and pea risotto, followed by desserts such as hot chocolate pudding with pistachio ice cream.
Alternatively, if you fancy a dram or two, head for the aptly named Malt Lounge, where you'll find a prodigious array of around 130 malt whiskies to explore.
