Hidalgo is located opposite the Sant Gervasi market in the Putxet neighbourhood in Barcelona. The restaurant began life more than 40 years ago on a small site, which was then extended and completely refurbished in 2007 to create a minimalist, calming but friendly space where every detail has been carefully designed. Hidalgo is famous for its salads and "patatas bravas", although it also offers other seasonal dishes based on traditional recipes that have been brought up to date with first class ingredients. Diners will find dishes such as "huevos estrellados", Santurce-style fillet of hake or crispy suckling pig, as well as a selection of creative tapas, all of which can be accompanied by a surprising list of little-known wines, with something for everyone.
