Review on Copita
The team behind the successful Barrica in Goodge Street have opened a second venture called Copita, located a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of Oxford street. Showcasing delicious authentic Spanish tapas the restaurant has received rave reviews from the critics, as well as picking up an award at the London Restaurant Festival Awards in 2012 and a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2013. With a buzzy ambience the venue has high candlelit polished wood counters and bar stools set against glossy white tiled walls, with a few tables outside for pavement dining.
Their concise menu changes daily in order to take advantage of carefully sourced high quality fresh market produce. Typical offerings on the menu are wild seabass, scallop and fennel, venison, pear and oxtail or quail with grapes, pancetta and rosemary. To finish with something sweet there is a delicious creamy custard tart or blood orange sorbet and fennel pollen.
The excellent wine menu is available by the glass, carafe and bottle and there are also fifteen varieties of sherry to choose from, a San Sebastian style gin and tonic and a good selection of other spirits including pacharan, Spanish liqueurs and a small selection of Spanish brandy.
