Review on The Terrace Restaurant and Bar
The Terrace Restaurant and Bar is situated in the exclusive Amba Hotel Charing Cross, built in 1865 this Grade I-listed hotel 'stands as a monument to the power and confidence of the Victorian era.' Directly adjacent to Charing Cross station it has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, transforming it into a luxurious 21st century hotel whilst retaining its original Victorian elegance.
The floor to ceiling windows in the restaurant provide diners with wonderful views over The Strand and Trafalgar Square. The Terrace offers an all-day dining experience with meals running along the lines of fresh pan-fried scallops seared in the pan and dressed with a zesty mango and lime salsa, followed by main courses of creamy risotto with wild mushrooms, finished with shavings of aged parmesan or Chicken Grand-Mere, tender pan-roasted breast of corn fed chicken accompanied by pancetta, girolle mushrooms, tarragon and a red wine and fondant potato. Typical desserts on the carte include a buttery viennoiserie bread pudding with a tangy orange marmalade glaze and vanilla ice cream or an indulgent chocolate fondant pudding finished with a passion fruit jus and vanilla ice cream.
Accompanying the menu is a well conceived wine list together zingy cocktails courtesy of their in-house mixologist.
