Review on The Kings Head
Suits of armour in the bar and a throne in the dining room add a touch of historical colour to this revamped (but still imposing) Victorian Gothic pub facing the green at the top of town.
Inside, the space is divided into two – one half for drinkers, the other for those wanting to eat amid a jumble of tables and chairs. The kitchen delivers reliable modern cooking in the shape of salt-and-pepper squid, butternut and sage risotto and Moroccan-style sauté lamb with apricots and cinnamon couscous. Rump steak and burgers are also available and you can finish with summer berries in pink Champagne jelly.
