Review on Afternoon Tea at The Grove
Once the former home to the Earls of Clarendon, The Grove is now a five-star luxurious hotel surrounded by 300 acres of glorious Hertfordshire countryside, just an eight minute drive from central Watford. Boasting three restaurants, it's a very popular venue for Afternoon Tea which is served in the beautiful setting of the Mansion Lounges or the Library, where esteemed guests such as as Queen Victoria, painter George Stubbs and Captain Cook were once entertained. High vaulted ceilings, superb restored fireplaces, French and English antiques, original modern artwork adorning the walls and views of the formal gardens set the mood for an indulgent experience.
Afternoon Tea is a delicious feast presented on towering silver tiers consisting of dainty finger sandwiches, miniature pastries, warm fresh scones with preserves and clotted cream. To accompany the food, The Grove has an impressive selection of rare leaf teas and rich coffee blends, or for an extra special treat why not choose a flute of champagne.
