Review on Braye Beach Hotel
Braye Beach is a delightful boutique hotel on the unspoilt island of Alderney, located in an unparalleled position on the edge of one of their finest sandy beaches with spectacular views across the bay. A stone's throw from the picturesque harbour and a short walk to the quaint cobbled streets of the town of St Anne's, the four star award winning hotel, complete with its own private cinema, offers guests luxurious accommodation in a relaxed ambience.
The restaurant makes the most of the panoramic views and on sunny days guests can take advantage of al fresco dining on their terrace. The kitchen offers well presented seasonal dishes using the very best of daily supplies from local farmers and fisherman. Amongst the starters look for liquorice smoked duck, anise roasted pineapple, roasted nuts and ginger or baked cod, mussel, prawns, sauce nantua and oyster leaf. Main courses pick up on herb crusted pork loin with dauphinoise potato, butternut squash puree, mange tout, Parma ham, black pudding crumb and chestnut jus or sea bass fillet with confit potatoes, lobster and crab bisque and seaweed, sea greens. Poached pear, prunes, walnuts, mulled wine syrup and beetroot ice cream makes a good finale, otherwise choose the rhubarb lemongrass cream, ginger, pineapple, mead and gin.
