Review on Máxime
Chef/patron Máxime Deymier opened his eponymous restaurant at the Vall d'Or Golf club situated in the town of S'Horta, between the two towns of Cala d'Or and Porto Colom on the southeast coast of Mallorca. The restaurant occupies the top floor of the clubhouse with a lofty beamed ceiling and large picture windows, together with a smart mezzanine lounge. During summer months the outside tables on their delightful terrace are the most sought after, affording diners glorious views across the golf course and down to the coast.
Máxime's father Gerard owns the well regarded Port Petit restaurant in Cala d'Or, so cooking is in his blood and his food showcases fresh produce from his family's finca. He produces an interesting and varied Mediterranean menu with some Asian influences. Kick off proceedings with Provençal fish soup with croutons and rouille sauce before a main course of Magret of duck with wok vegetables and perfumed basmati rice, or for fish fans there's loin of red tuna in a sesame crust with vegetables and oriental sauce. To finish its hard to resist fondant of chocolate with caramel ice cream or crème brulee with Madagascar vanilla.
