Review on Fhior

Fhior is located on Broughton Street, said to be one of the most bohemian and cosmopolitan streets in the heart of the city of Edinburgh. It is the latest venture from acclaimed chef Scott Smith, who rose to fame with his now closed Norn restaurant which he opened in 2016. Taking its name from an adaption of the Gaelic word for 'true', the restaurant has taken a modern, pared back approach to the décor with a light and airy bar at the front, and the main restaurant towards the rear. Service is relaxed and friendly, whilst being both knowledgeable and attentive.

Scott offers diners a fixed set menu of either four or seven courses, that changes regularly to showcase impeccable Scottish ingredients supplied by trusted local suppliers. Simple ingredients reflect culinary intelligence and diversity, resulting in incredibly fresh and flavourful choices. Open proceedings with halibut, Swiss chard and Salt Marsh herbs before prawn, rhubarb and borage. Follow on with baby gem lettuce, hogget, pea and goat's cheese finishing with a delicious dessert of white chocolate, beremeal and seaweed.

You also have the option of wine pairing with each course, otherwise choose from their carefully curated wine list, with options available by the glass.
