Review on Provisioners at The Dixon

Provisioners is an all day dining restaurant and cafe in the new boutique hotel The Dixon, located a stone's throw from Tower Bridge. The restaurant has been opened by Clive Watson, co-founder of Fitzrovia's Riding House Café, Spitalfield's Blixen and non-executive director of Victoria-based Lorne together with Autograph Collection Hotels. The hotel is named after John Dixon Butler, the architect who constructed the building in 1905 as a Magistrates' Court and police station.

The interiors have been created by Shepherd's Bush based Twenty2Degrees, whilst sympathetic to the original constructional elements of the building, they have created a warm and welcoming space using modern and contemporary designs reflecting the historical and spirit of the surrounding neighbourhood. Complementing the Provisioners restaurant is an adjoining café with an Italian vibe serving signature coffee, cakes and snacks, while in the evening it morphs into a casual wine and charcuterie bar. Just steps away, your can also find the Courtroom Bar decked out with Edwardian oak panelling, artisan cocktails and locally sourced spirits are served under the original structure of the judge's bench.

Former Executive Chef of Boulestin, Lerrico Messina leads the kitchen for menus that straddles breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the dinner menu look for dishes along the lines of secret smokehouse haddock, risotto, leeks and poached quail egg or black pudding, pear, port caramel and pistachio. Main courses usher in duck, duck and duck, Shanghai master-stock leg pie, roasted breast and liver parfait or fish fans might opt for the line-caught bream. Desserts bring on board delights like peanut parfait, banana sponge and brown butter ice cream or Valrhona chocolate mousse, Maldon sea salt, caramel and ginger snap.
