Review on Cakes & Bubbles by Albert Adrià
Celebrated Spanish chef Albert Adrià, named The World's Best Pastry Chef by The World's 50 Best Restaurants who previously operated the three Michelin-starred El Bulli in Catalonia with his brother Ferran, has opened Cakes & Bubbles, his first permanent restaurant outside Spain. Set within the landmark Hotel Café Royal on the corner of Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus, it has a suitably swanky marble clad setting located on the ground floor of the hotel.
As the name suggests the restaurant focuses on desserts, Champagne Cava and other sparkling wines and the inspiration to open a venue in London came from his acclaimed 'La Dolça' at his Tickets restaurant in Barcelona. Be prepared to be dazzled by the high artistry of desserts such as the Golden Egg Flan, and also look out for Albert's signature cheese cake with Baron Bigod Brie, hazelnut and white chocolate.
A lovely place to take a break from shopping and watch the hustle and bustle of Regent Street, Cakes & Bubbles also offers a set menu and a tasting menu.
