Review on Haar Restaurant
MasterChef: The Professionals finalist Dean Banks has opened his first restaurant named Haar in the boutique five-star Kinnettles Hotel, built in 1879 in St Andrews, known worldwide as the home of golf, it's just a short walk from attractions like St Andrews Castle and West Sands Beach. Taking it's name from the cold sea fog that occurs on the East coast of Scotland, the restaurant occupies the entire ground floor of the hotel. Featuring an open kitchen, Haar has a pared-back décor with pale green walls decorated with modern seascapes by local artist, Samantha Renson.
Dean promises diners 'a sensory experience like no other' and it would appear that he is certainly succeeding when you read the glowing reviews for his exquisite dishes, highlighting small and large plates that are perfect for sharing. The food is squarely on high quality ingredients and seasonality and Dean has built up a close relationship with local trusted suppliers. The kitchen has a modern and inventive take on classic dishes, using different components and contrasting tastes that have a pleasing visual impact.
Haar has a carefully curated wine list that can also be paired to your chosen dishes.
