Review on Ivy Asia
Ivy Asia, a glamorous late night bar and restaurant is a new dining concept to the Ivy group, set in a stunning four-storey pavilion covered with green ivy in the centre of the Spinningfields area of Manchester. Located on the second floor of The Ivy Spinnningfields Brasserie, it is sumptuously decorated with custom gold leaf ceilings and a 15m long black, red and gilt dragon, while the entire floor is illuminated with exquisite semi-precious green stones, set against a swanky gold mirrored bar.
Steve Scoullar has devised the contemporary Asian menu drawing inspirations from his travels to Cambodia and Vietnam, including the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo. The kitchen sends out an array of dishes designed for sharing along the lines of Yellowtail sashimi, truffle, chilli and tosazu dressing from the raw and cured section, to asparagus tempura paired with miso hollandaise. Crispy duck bao is served with hoisin and five spice and from the robata grill there's beef sirloin with crispy and soy dressing or Thai sea bass with coriander, lime and chilli. To finish on a sweet note there's desserts like warm mango and yuzu doughnuts with coconut dipping sauce or red dragon dessert, dark chocolate salted caramel and honeycomb.
There's a glamorous late bar serving signature cocktails like Kyoto Lavender, Manzana Verde wild apple liqueur, Koko Kanu coconut rum, coconut water and a lavender foam, while a resident DJ plays in the background. The Geisha Room featuring dazzling bespoke artwork in floor-to-ceiling mirrors and an impressive pink onyx bar is available for private functions.
