Review on Mr. Todiwala's Kitchen
Mr. Todiwala's Kitchen is the self named restaurant by lauded chef Cyrus Todiwala OBE, set within the Lincoln Plaza London, Curio Collection By Hilton in Canary Wharf. Ideally placed just 400 years from South Quay and with easy access by tube to the O2 Area, the restaurant has it's own entrance but can also be accessed through the hotel's main lobby. A high-ceiling room, it's a colourful venue decorated in vivid colours of blues, oranges and reds, with shelves lined with Indian curios. There's comfy mismatched furniture and a magnificent engraved elephant statue dominating the room.
Cyrus Todiwala has become synonymous with showcasing supreme Indian cuisine and the kitchen send out freshly prepared dishes using first-class British produce. The tandoori tikka platter consisting of Barbary duck, Wild Hart Venison, Scotch Beef, Chicken Paneer and salmon is a good staring point if you are indecisive. Otherwise look out for dishes along the lines of beetroot and coconut samosas or maybe Frankie goat dosa, a crisp white lentil and rice pancake filled with diced goat from Scotland, cooked in a rich well spiced Bombay style yoghurt based sauce. Main courses usher in a Goan prawn curry and organic red rice or from the land there's a succulent shank of lamb bhuna. Desserts stay close to home with a hazelnut kulfi or otherwise opt for Mr Todiwala's home-made Halman apricot toffee ice cream.
