Review on Prashad
Mrs Kaushy Patel and her family started out by selling vegetarian snacks and sweetmeats in a modest corner site, before expanding to their restaurant in Drighlington. Billed as a 'chaat house', Prashad specialises in Gujarati street food and everyday dishes from the traditions of home cookery.
A big range of starters and snacks includes everything from samosas and deep-fried kachori (spiced pea and garlic balls) to dosas and idli sambar (steamed rice flour dumplings with cooling coconut and yoghurt chutney).
It's also worth trying the legendary 'chole' (a rich chick pea and tomato dish that apparently caused havoc when it was served at the Leeds Mela!), as well as the 'hara bara' burger (mashed peas and cauliflower in a bun with spicy masala chips). Prashad is unlicensed, so drink lassi or faluda (rose-flavoured milk with vermicelli noodles).
