Review on Fishworks
Set on bustling Marylebone High Street, FishWorks is part of a small group of restaurants with siblings in Piccadilly Circus and Richmond in Surrey, very popular destinations for seafood lovers. Featuring a traditional wet fish counter as you enter the restaurant, the long narrow room with nautical touches has a simple uncluttered décor and offers diners an informal and relaxed dining experience.
Seafood arrives daily from carefully selected sustainable sources off the South Coast and Brixham markets, ensuring the quality and freshness of the fish. The kitchen uses time-honoured, precise cooking techniques that allow the natural flavours of the dish to shine through. The fruits of the sea could appear in the shape of steamed mussels with garlic, shallots and parsley or pan fried hook and line caught squid with fresh gremolata and chilli. Follow on with main courses of whole Nova Scotia lobster, simply grilled with garlic butter, parsley and fresh lemon or maybe seared yellow fin tuna with cracked black pepper, rocket, soy and mirin dressing. Meat lovers can choose the 10oz ribeye steak, matured for 21 days served with peppercorn sauce and chipped potatoes and for vegetarians there's feta and chargrilled artichoke linguini with mixed olives, sun blushed tomatoes and fresh herb pesto. When it comes to desserts there's a seriously decadent chocolate cake paired with walnut ice cream or Eton Mess with créme de cassis berries, vanilla mascarpone and raspberry meringue.
FishWorks offers a carefully compiled wine list to complement the dishes with plenty of offerings by the glass.
