Review on La Rose de France
La Rose de France in the 1st arrondissement of Paris is on the picturesque Place Dauphine, close to Pont Neuf, Saint Michel, Notre Dame, La Saint-Chapell and the Louvre. This small restaurant with its Mediterranean décor and a lovely lush green terrace to dine on when the weather's warm is approaching its 65th birthday. Serving traditional French Market cuisine this is a charming place where you can expect a very warm welcome.
There are two choices of set menus plus a classic a la carte option. Among the starters look for large Burgundy snails with rich herbed butter and tomato sauce or duck foie gras prepared in-house with Szechuan pepper and mango chutney. For mains there might be rump steak with a pepper sauce, home-made French fries or leg of lamb with dried fruits and polenta. Desserts wander into the realms of lavender or rose flavoured crème brûlée or a mousse of white and dark chocolate with red fruit and mango coulis.
