Review on Nawaab Tong

The Nawaab name has become iconic in Yorkshire and is now situated in the former Lapwater Hall at Tong, after a £200,000 refurbishment which resulted in a restaurant, banqueting hall and conference centre.

The vast menu runs to some 200 dishes, covering a host of 'popular curries' (bhunas, dhansaks, jalfrezis), assorted tandooris, baltis and a big selection of chef's specialities - including chicken haandi cooked and served in a special wide-bellied pot, slow-cooked lamb nihari and a decent selection of vegetables. There are branches in Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester and even Spain!

    Poor customer service from management

    Went for the buffet so we could take our own wine. Unfortunately if you're vegetarian there is very little option. Starters onion bhaji or mushroom bhaji. And only 1 main, dhal (lentils). Due to poor choices we had to go for the menu option but told we had to buy our wine from them. I explained the reason we had to change our plans but they still refused to let us drink and said free corkage was for the buffet only. Shocking customer service and the main dishes were of a poor and bland standard. My starter seek kebabs were good but overall very disappointed.
