Voted Welsh Hotel of the Year in 2007, the ultra-modern Park Plaza oozes luxury and sophistication, with state-of-the-art facilities including a health spa, treatment rooms and a stainless-steel pool.
Laguna Kitchen & Bar is situated on the ground floor of the hotel, with a lovely outdoor terrace for al fresco meals on warm days. Inside, it's contemporary and open-plan, with huge picture windows, wood floors, low ceilings and an open-to-view kitchen.
The menu is a long run through salads, pastas and grills bolstered by eclectic dishes including Brixham crab cakes with mango and chilli salsa, Thai-style mussels, Brecon venison with risotto primavera and seafood paella. There's also a daily roast (Hazelwell Farm organic leg of lamb on Tuesday and Friday), plus classic desserts such as peach Melba, tarte Tatin and dark chocolate nemesis (with suggested sweet wines).
