Review on Three Tuns
Situated on the fringes of the New Forest National Park, some three miles from Christchurch, the Three Tuns is instantly recognisable with its immaculate thatched roof and hanging baskets. In summer it attracts the crowds because of its vast south-facing garden and terrace complete with a water feature; the pub is also renowned for its barbecues â€" weather permitting.
In the reassuringly comfortable and traditionally appointed bar you can enjoy ‘light bites’ and a menu of old favourites like fish cakes, pan-fried lamb’s liver, burgers, pasta and salads, while the main restaurant aims higher. Here the possibilities might include warm ballotine of rabbit and confit leg with blackcurrant marmalade, pan-fried sea bass with celery and white truffle mousseline, rice and barley cake and a balsamic reduction, and desserts such as warm chocolate torte. Five well-kept real ales and a fine choice of wines (including ten by the glass) complete the picture.
