Review on Befani's Mediterranean & Tapas Restaurant
Fulvio Bonfiglio and chef Adrian Ryan teamed up to create this vibrant all-day restaurant in a restored listed building a short stroll from Clonmel quays. It's a deliberately casual venue with long opening hours, a flexible attitude and unfussy furnishings.
A tapas menu runs from noon to 10.00pm and you can take your pick from a varied list of cold and hot morsels including smoked chicken with red pepper and raisin chutney, spiced chilli Manchgeo cheese, salt cod and potato fritters with aïoli dip, meatballs and Thai-style king prawns.
The full restaurant menu has a broad Mediterranean span, embracing Tunisian crab parcels with tomato and coriander salsa, porcini mushroom and goats' cheese risotto, and Parmesan-crusted cassoulet along with authentic desserts such as crema Catalana, Sicilian 'cannoli' with Ricotta, and tiramisù cappuccino. Accommodation is available in Casa Befani's above the restaurant.
