Review on Deddington Arms
Dating back to the sixteenth century, this refurbished coaching inn occupies a prime spot overlooking Deddington market square - making it an ideal stopover for travellers on their way between Oxford and Banbury.
Carved wood panelling, arched partitions and high-backed leather chairs define the smart, spacious restaurant, where visitors can enjoy an enticing mix of grills and modern brasserie-style dishes with a few eclectic overtones. Start with Caesar salad, fettuccine with chorizo or tiger prawn spring rolls with Thai coconut broth, then proceed to roast rump of lamb with Cotswold goats' cheese soufflé and ratatouille or beer-battered cod with chips and mushy peas. To finish, old-fashioned English puds such as pear and apple crumble sit alongside more modern confections like frozen coconut and mango terrine with pineapple carpaccio.
