Review on Dil Se
The sibling of Balaka in St Andrews, Dil Se is a smart, spacious venue with a modern glass frontage and a professional outlook. Like its older brother, it benefits profitably from the harvest of a highly productive kitchen garden and allotment set up by green-fingered owner Mohammed Abdur.
All manner of organically grown herbs and vegetables find their way into the kitchen, which offers an imaginative choice of dishes ranging from a big contingent of curry house stalwarts (bhunas, dhansaks and so on) to genuine Bangladeshi specialities and a few novel inventions.
Among the eye-catching specials might be mas bangla (salmon marinated in lime, turmeric and chilli, then fried in mustard oil with aubergines and tomatoes) and keema aloo â€" which makes use of minced Scottish lamb.
