Review on Jahangir Tandoori
Some of the best Indian cooking in Dundee is to be found in this luxuriously decorated restaurant named after the Mogul Prince and son of King Akbar. No wonder the décor is exotic: huge six-foot-high vases flank the entrance and the interior is designed around a fishpond and the dining room is draped in embroidered fabrics.
The long menu works its way through the curry house repertoire from bhunas to biryanis, although there are a few Scottish reminders here and there: tandoori fish makes use of haddock, while chicken sharabi is laced with a dram or two of whisky. Other specialities include achari tikka (cooked with mixed pickle ands spring onions) and patan gosht (lamb with chick peas, methi leaves, coriander and green chillies.
Early evening buffets (5 to 6.30pm every day except Saturday) are popular with
families.
