Quantro puts on a chic, contemporary face and has earned its place as a reliable destination in the centre of Harrogate. The striking glass frontage leads into a smart dining room with ambient lighting, lime and aubergine colour schemes, and walls bedecked with modern murals and mirrors.

The kitchen taps into the European brasserie repertoire, with a strong leaning towards the Mediterranean. Typically creative offerings might include rocket 'smoothie' with Parmesan tuile and tomato sorbet, venison steak with sweet potato and butter beans, and fillet of sea bass with braised fennel, roast garlic spaghetti and crab tartare. Sticky toffee pudding is a favourite dessert, along with almond and banana cheesecake. Light lunches and the fixed-price 'menu Qu' are excellent value.
