Review on Swans Chinese Restaurant

Situated in the centre of town, just a couples of minutes' walk from Kilkenny Castle, this likeable restaurant is a good local choice for accessible Chinese food. The colourful upstairs dining room is pleasingly decorated in simple style, with oriental wall hangings, red alcoves and cherry wood floors.

The menu is a 100-dish run from sesame prawn toasts and spare ribs to sizzling specialities and seafood 'trios'. Other possibilities include prawn-stuffed roast duck, crispy shredded chicken in Peking sauce, and Szechuan-style king prawns.

    Bad service

    On Sunday 20th we took a trip to Kilkenny with our son and decided to have chinese for lunch. We were pointed to a table and that was the last contact with staff we had. No one told us there was soup around the corner to where we were sitting, which I only see when I went to the toilet. Thought someone would have told us there was drink if you want to help yourself. Anyway we got up to help ourselves to the dishes some of which were half empty. Most of mine were cold so I left it thinking if someone should take our plates away might ask if there was a problem. About 10 mins later a lady came out and lit new candles as they had obviously gone out. On to the desserts what a choice 1 Tirimisu 2 cold dishes of fritters and a bowl of tin fruit cocktail. Dont know if there would have been tea or coffee available as we see nobody and it wasnt because they were busy.As it was a treat to our son didnt want to make a scene when paying, I felt that it was 44.85 wasted and def wouldnt be going again .Bad bad choice of places to go

    10 out of 10 when we go to kk we always eat at least twice, its good value for money and portions are very good
