Review on Crafthouse
Crafthouse opened in March 2013, together with sibling Angelica, both located in the new Trinity shopping and leisure complex in Leeds, part of the stable of restaurants from the D&D group, this is their first venture outside of London. Located on the fifth floor the restaurant can be accessed from the shopping centre or directly via a scenic lift on Boar Lane. Interiors have been designed by Conran & Partners with industrial design elements reflecting Leeds' past and present. Featuring an open kitchen, the room makes the most of marble, dark oak and leather, with room dividers inspired by looms and ceiling rafts reminiscent of fabric reams. Specially commissioned local artwork adds further interest and on summer days, diners will be able to make the most of the panoramic views on the landscaped garden terrace
Executive Chef is Murray Wilson who joined Crafthouse from Horto, the three-AA-rosette restaurant at Rudding Park. The carte changes regularly with the seasons and offers up starters such as grilled oysters with a light curry glaze and leeks or smoked duck and foie gras, fine bean, breakfast radish and hazelnut vinaigrette. For a main course choose sea bass on the bone cooked on the Josper grill or maybe a succulent steak supplied from world renowned North Yorkshire Butcher 'Ginger Pig'.
There is a carefully selected wine list to complement the dishes with several options available by the glass.
