Review on Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant

Sapporo's fun, showtime atmosphere makes it one of the most popular 'partying' restaurants in Liverpool. It's the perfect venue if you fancy theatrical gastronomic entertainment rather than a discreet culinary experience.

The whole set up revolves around teppan yaki: guests sit in front of hot plates while chefs do their stuff, slicing, grilling and assembling all manner of ingredients with pyrotechnic wizardry. Duck breast, lamb loin, lobsters and scallops all receive the treatment, with fried rice, grilled vegetables and sautι potatoes offered on the side.

Fans of raw fish can also get their kicks from a wide choice of nigiri sushi and maki rolls (including an ersatz 'Liverpool' version), as well as well-crafted sashimi: try the chef's special of sliced tuna, salmon and sea bass with pickled ginger, wasabi and soy. There's a second branch on Liverpool Road, Castlefield, Manchester.
