Review on 108 Brasserie
108 Brasserie is a chic, contemporary restaurant and bar that has been opened by celebrity restaurateur Roy Ackerman. Showcasing produce from local suppliers such as the award winning La Fromagerie, The Ginger Pig and Biggles Sausages to produce a simple classic crowd pleasing menu. The dining rooms have wooden tables and flooring with stylish leather chairs, dramatic artwork on the walls and an impressive painting by Peter Denmark takes centre stage.
Among the starters look for honey glazed Suffolk pork belly, black pudding with puy lentil sauce or pan-fried Scottish mackerel fillet, pickled beetroot with caper and shallot dressing. Main courses are divided into 'from the sea' and 'from the land' so expect grilled fillet of Shetlands Isle salmon or maybe baked haddock fillet with herb crust. To finish try Williams pear in spiced red wine, roasted figs and cinnamon mascarpone or a traditional plum, apple and hazelnut crumble served with vanilla ice cream. The reasonably priced wine list features new and old wine from international renowned vineyards as well as small independent producers. There is also some organic wine on offer as well as an award winning English Sparkling Denbies Whitedowns Cuvee and a selection of cocktails.
